So Esta returned back from Arizona late Friday night with a vehicle both capable and worthy of towing the boat. On Saturday morning all we needed was to finish the registration process, wire in the trailer's electrical connections and attach the hitch. It sounded easy enough, especially for two technically minded individuals as ourselves. With hours of daylight ahead of us we pondered the possibility of even having the boat in the water later that very afternoon.
Several hours and two trips to Autozone later we had accomplished the task. The daylight was fading fast and the chance of us setting sail had past. Now to clean up the wiring, pop on the newly acquired registration sticker and hit the road to Cowan Lake State Park.
So we made a quick trip for the final camping necessities, hooked everything up, and split. As we were about to leave we noticed the car and boat made a handsome pair.
It was a treacherous drive to the park as night and twisted country roads lay ahead. At one point we were sure we were lost so Esta made a quick call to his mom and made sure we were on the right track.
Late Saturday night we arrived at the park, set up camp and started a fire. The latter requiring an entire spool of twine, half a roll of toilet paper, various scraps of paper, some WD-40 and select pages of an atlas (see above photo) to start. A few hours later we were off to sleep, eager to head to the marina in the morning.
